Based on data from the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency, the import value of drugs and vitamin increased by 18.15% from 175.3 million dollars in 2019 to 207.15 million dollars in 2020. Furthermore, the import value of drugs and vitamins in the January – May period 2021 has reached 113.5 million dollars, rise of 25% when compared to the January – May 2020 period by 91 million dollars. The increasing in imports of drugs and vitamins indicates the high rate of conventional treatment methods using chemical drugs by the population.

Conventional treatment methods using chemical drugs basically relieving pain in the part of the body that feels pain. This method produces an instant effect on the patient and results in the short term. However, the use of chemical drugs will rise the amount of free radicals inside body organ in the long term.

The majority of Indonesians are not aware of the long-term effects of using chemical drugs. The accumulation of free radicals can lead to organ disfunctions to conduct self-healing.

Current technological developments have touched various sectors, one of them is health sector. One of the novel treatment methods which is currently being developed is the mitochondrial-based treatment method. Mitochondrial-based treatment is done by activating the mitochondrial cells so that the body’s cells can regenerate and revitalising their functions. Mitochondrial-based treatment can be done in various ways, such as the consumption of hydrogen water, the consumption of medicines and supplements made from natural ingredients (herbs), application of essential oils to the body, and breathing exercises. This treatment is a holistic method, this treatment focus attention to all parts of the body as an interconnected system.
